Many of the 3D transitions support setting the background image to “Transparent.”
Although typically you would place a static image or color or even live video in the background, there’s no reason this couldn’t be used to overlay one transition on another.
Hmmm… What if we used this to combine two really explosive transitions from the 3D Explosions collection? Would it make a really, really explosive transition?
Let’s try it.
Start with two clips overlapping in the Vegas timeline. By default, overlapping clips simply cross dissolve.
Copy and Paste the two clips into the track directly below. Once the topmost track has some transparency, the second track will display through the transparent portions.
For this transition, let’s double up two explosive transitions: 3D Intensity Grid and 3D Grid Fall Away.
First, drop the 3D Intensity Grid “Hi Res” preset onto the top transition.
The Intensity Grid explodes the image upward while the simple dissolve transition on Track Two acts as a background.
Then, drop the “Materialize” preset from 3D Grid Fall Away on the second track. This particular preset runs in reverse, so hundreds of tiny pieces assemble into the final image in the background.
Play the transition!
If you are feeling maniacal, layer three, four, or five transitions on top of each other!
Want to inject explosive energy into your videos with ease? Then you need NewBlue 3D Explosions. This astonishing collection of customizable 3D transitions includes 180 presets in 13 different plugins that introduce creative new ways to blast a scene into pieces. Morph between scenes with explosive energy, swirl pieces that reassemble into the new scene or dramatically blast the image into smithereens. All these and more are yours with NewBlue 3D Explosions.
Grid Explosion slices the first scene into a grid of particles that blast apart on trajectories determined by the shape of the image to reveal the second scene.
Intensity Grid turns the scene into a rectangular grid in which the lighter pieces fly towards the camera, then contract and fade into the second scene.
Spiral Rotation breaks your first scene into a rectangular grid of panels that spiral inward while flipping around an axis, and then spiral back out to reassemble as the second scene.
