If you are looking for a run of the mill, average wedding video, don’t call Sharrone Calafiore. She and her husband, Chris, make up the team at Fiore Films, which was recently listed as one of EventDV 25 finalists (2009) — a list of studios and filmmakers on the verge of a breakthrough into the top echelon of event filmmakers. Calafiore says,
“We found ourselves generating lots of positive buzz for bringing a unique sexy vibe to wedding cinema.”
Indeed, Fiore Films offer a standout approach to wedding cinematography, and NewBlueFX is a key ingredient to the overall package. A few short years ago Calafiore left a lucrative position at a leading e-commerce company to stay home and raise her newborn son. She had been creating photomontages of family gatherings for years. After watching the montage of her son’s first birthday, her mother-in-law encouraged her to start a commercial venture, and Just Because Slideshows was born.

Meet Dan Douglas, founder of Plug Video Productions. His interest in making movies began early. At fourteen he was consumed (maybe even obsessed) with recording family events using a VHS camera and a hip-mounted VCR and battery pack. On a nice summer day you wouldn’t find him outside playing, like other kids. Douglas was inside editing video footage - and today we have Plug Video Productions.

Meet Stephen Goldberg, one of the founding partners of MemoriesFX, a full service production facility specializing in corporate and personal video services. Recently, MemoriesFX was completing a project producing a corporate video for tradeshow and marketing use. The usual editor was consumed by another project so Goldberg, whose primary role is in sales and production (not editing), needed to step-in as the editor. This project needed to be completed and delivered to the client by the trade show date which was fast approaching.

Perry Payne of SPwrite Productions, LLC, and his partner Sandra J. Payne, currently produce two web series: The Web.Files and Life with Kat & McKay (on KoldCast.tv and their own website, PurseDog.tv). The Web.Files recently won Clicker’s “Best of 2009” award for “Best Web Original Non-fiction” show and is currently distributed by blip.tv (www.thewebfiles.blip.tv). Hosted by red-carpet entertainment reporter, Kristyn Burtt, The Web.Files is a weekly interview talk show covering the hottest series and celebs on the web. Each week, the look of the show changes, taking inspiration from the web series it is covering. Recently, when Casey McKinnon — host of the indie comic-book review show, A Comicbook Orange — and her partner, writer Rudy Jahchan, were interviewed, the corresponding episode of The Web.Files (#28), needed to reflect the look and feel of a live-action comic book. In order to achieve this effect, Perry, The Web.Files editor, turned to the NewBlueFX plug-in Cartoonr for Final Cut Pro.
