While good shooting, relentless trimming, and artful sequencing are the steak in most of our productions, special effects often provide the sizzle. When I scanned through the 10 effects in NewBlueFX Video Essentials IV, the potential sizzle in the bundle nearly had me salivating. Pavlovian references aside, if you’re looking for fast, inexpensive ways to add compelling looks to your productions, check out the many effects available at the NewBlueFX website (www.newbluefx.com).
NewBlueFX was pleased to be featured in a recent article by Larry Jordon, an award winning producer, director, editor, consultant and Final Cut trainer (he also publishes a great monthly newsletter). Larry reviewed 3D Transformations and Video Essentials I (Flash Remover and Soft Focus). He mentions several things he likes (we like these things, too!):
- Reasonable pricing
- Selling bundles instead of individual applications
- The simplicity of their interface
- The variety and look of their plug-ins
We were so pleased to discover Ryan Graham’s review of Video Essentials in the April 1 issue of MicroFilmmaker magazine. He immediately grasped exactly what we’re trying to do when we say that NewBlueFX are competiviely-priced, aesthetically fresh and ridiculously easy to use. Take it away, Ryan:
I’ve been consistently impressed with the ease-of-use of NewBlueFX’s plugins; they’ve all contained useful and interesting presets, along with easy to understand, adjustable parameters. Recently I’ve found myself going to their effects over other manufacturers’ more expensive ones, not necessarily because the quality is better, but just because they’re more enjoyable to use and make work seem like fun instead of a chore.

David McKnight of EventDV magazine recently reviewed NewBlue Video Essentials. Here’s his conclusion:
Not everyone will make full use of all of these tools. That is the nature of a package like this. But, while there are no new whiz-bang effects or 3D exploding transitions in Video Essentials, this package truly turns necessary, complex video chores into child’s play. With Video Essentials, you can do in seconds what would normally take minutes or hours.
