Each time you purchase a NewBlueFX product, you will need to activate it using its activation manager and serial number. Therefore, if you open the activation manager for Video Essentials, you must use the serial number for this product and not, for example, Video Essentials II.
Be sure to use the specific key and activation program for each NewBlueFX product you own. To verify that you are using the correct activation manager, check the title bar. For example, in the screenshot below, you’ll find the activation program for Film Effects. In this case, only a Film Effects serial number will be accepted.

If you are using the proper serial number and activation manager, yet still cannot activate, make sure you have not made a typographical error. Common mistakes include swapping the number “0″ (zero) for the letter “O” or the number “1″ (one) for the letters “i” or “l” (L). To avoid these mistakes, copy the key from your e-mail and paste it into the activation program.
After installing Video Essentials II in EDIUS, you can find the plugins in two places:
Keying effects are listed under “Keyers” in the NewBlue Video Essentials II category. There you will find Chroma Key, Lens Correction, Letterbox, Picture-In-Picture, and Vignette.
The remaining effects are located under “Video Filters” in the NewBlue Video Essentials II category. These are Color EQ, Color Swap, Noise Reducer, Rack Focus, and Shadows and Highlights.
How do I obtain the latest version of my NewBlueFX? All I find on your site are trial downloads.
Good news – you found the latest updates. In terms of underlying code, there is no difference between our trial and purchased products. When you make a purchase, your serial number unlocks the trial version. To update your products with the latest versions, visit our Download Page .
To I update my product, do I need to uninstall first and then reactivate?
No. The new version will simply install over the old. However, if you want to change the location of your installation, then you should uninstall first. The activation will not be affected, so there is no need to go through the reactivate, regardless of where the product is installed.
