Technical Writing

Do you have a knack for explaining technological concepts to the masses? Are you a strong writer who's familiar with common HTML and help authoring tools? If so, we're looking for someone like you.

NewBlue, Inc. is a La Jolla (San Diego, CA) based startup specializing in software products and technologies for music, gaming and desktop video editing. Our company was founded by digital media industry pioneers who thrive on merging arts and technology.

We seek bright, highly-motivated technical writers with a passion for explaining innovative technologies through the written word.

Required:

Proven track record of successful technical writing.
Portfolio of previously written work.
Bachelor's degree in or other related field (or equivalent real world experience).
Basic understanding of the video editing process.
Able to follow directions as well as work independently.
Team-minded individual who understands the importance of being on schedule.
Hard working, industrious, innovative, etc.

Desirable:

BS or MS degree in English, journalism or communications.
Video and/or audio editing experience.
Familiarity with leading non-linear video editing software.
Prior experience at a software company.

In all cases, we need people who are genuinely interested in the end product (have a passion for video and/or music technology) and are smart, resourceful, and organized in their thinking.

Software Engineering

We seek bright, highly-motivated developers with a passion for applying computer technology to audio, video and and/or graphics to develop and enhance our technologies and products.

Requirements:

C++
Serious passion for graphics, audio, music, or video technology.
Professional programming experience.
College degree in or other related field (or equivalent real world experience).
Basic understanding of modern computer graphics.
Basic understanding of math (particularly 3D graphics math, linear algebra, etc).
Able to follow directions as well as work independently.
Team minded individual who understands the importance of being on schedule.
Hard working, industrious, innovative, etc.

Desirable:

BS or MS degree in computer science.
Windows programming with COM experience.
Mac programming.
Prior work in related areas, including personal projects or class work.

Music or video experience.

Marketing and PR Guru

If you are looking for a safe, staid generic marketing/PR position, with standard pay and benefits, this posting is not for you. But if you are driven to build your career by promoting cool, cutting-edge entertainment technologies packaged with some of the biggest names in the industry, we’d like to talk with you.

We seek a bright, highly-motivated freelance marketing/PR professional with a passion for spreading the word about our video and music-based technologies and products. Your job: to garner product reviews, establish co-marketing partnerships, seek out the most effective advertising opportunities, and shamelessly promote the NewBlue product line.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree.
Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in the public relations or advertising fields.
Fluent understanding of the Windows and Mac multimedia marketplace.
Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally.
Experience writing press releases and ad copy; creating press kits and reviewers' guides.
Successful product marketing experience.
Excellent media relations skills.
Ability to demonstrate both pitching skills and existing media relationships.
Entrepreneurial attitude.

Desirable:

BA or MA degree in marketing or public relations.
Video or music production experience.
Previous position with multimedia software company.
Established relationships with all types of media--business, technology and consumer media outlets.
