Magix uses standard VST audio effects. Install our audio FX for Sony Vegas which will place the VST audio effects in the standard c:\Program Files(x86)\VSTPlugins folder. In Avid Studio, you can find your NewBlue effects by clicking on the Effects tab. They will be arranged alphabetically by package and effect name. Each effect preset will have its own icon, and you just need to drag the icon onto your clip to apply it.
Question: How do I use NewBlue VST audio plugins in Edius 6?
Answer: Edius 6 has changed the way VST audio are located on your system. By default, Edius 6 does not look for VST plugins. Instead, you now have to tell Edius you have VSTs installed and where they are located. You can actually install the VST plugins anywhere - many applications use Program Files\VSTPlugins as their default folder but you can choose any folder you desire. Once the plugins are installed, you can then tell Edius to look for the VSTs.
Question: What is the difference between OpenFX and the regular plugins?
Answer: Functionally, both versions will give you the exact same results using the exact same settings. However, there are some advantages to using the new OpenFX plugins.
Vegas Pro 10 introduced a new plugin API based on the OpenFX standard. The new API allows many new features not found in the previous API. While the new API adds many new features important to plugin developers not immediately visible to the user, let’s take a look at the same plugin under both APIs to see some of the visible differences.
When using the older plugin API, the effects dialog will look the same as in previous versions. One exception is that you must now click on the “Animate” button in order to see the timeline. Otherwise, this is the same familiar environment all Vegas versions have shown in the path. When a new keyframe is added to the timeline, all parameters are saved at each keyframe.
The new OpenFX plugins have a new user interface. Each of the separate parameters have a small “clock” icon beside them. To keyframe any particular parameter, click on the “clock” beside that parameter. Each parameter can be individually keyframed without worrying about changing any other settings.
Question: I have installed a NewBlueFX product. Where can I find it in my NLE?
Answer: The NewBlueFX products are designed to work inside your NLE. The NewBlue effects and transitions can be found the same place you find the effects and transitions that came with your NLE. However, that location varies in every NLE so let’s look as specific video editors to see where they will be found.
