Use the Spin transition to go between two scenes.
From here…

… to here.

Spin the blur to move across the screen as it shreds the picture.
Here's how.
Load the NewBlue Spin transition and select the Hurricane preset.

This creates a transition that spins both images around the center.
Next, drag the Center control to the top left.

This sets the spin to rotate around the top left in the picture.
Now, the fun part: Below the Spin parameters in the transition view is the event timeline. Drag the cursor all the way to the right.

Any changes you make to the control will also be assigned to the end of the transition as well.
Go back to the Center control and drag it to the bottom right.

Now, the center of the spin is set to move from top left to bottom right over the course of the transition.
The hurricane starts at the top left…

…and travels to the bottom right

And, that’s just a start.
Using the time line and the controls, youe can create a very dynamic and unique effect that changes behavior and direction over the duration of the transition.

For a sophisticated, high energy look, experiment using this technique on any NewBlue transition, especially with the Motion Blends collection. |

Liquify distorts the image while transitioning between scenes. The first scene melts into goop from which the second scene emerges.
Roll rolls the frame image over and over at an increasingly frenetic pace and ultimately easing into the new image.
Shake violently rattles the picture as it transitions from one clip to another.
Shear twists the first clip into the second with a shearing blur on two axes.
Shredder acts like a paper shredder, slicing the first scene into thin strips and dragging them off to reveal the second scene.
Smear blurs the first clip along a motion axis, then clears the blur to reveal the second clip.
Spin rotates and blurs the first clip around any point in the picture, then unwinds the blur to reveal the second clip.
Twirl rapidly twists the first scene into a swirling image, then unwinds it to reveal the second scene.
Wave modulates the picture side to side in a rippling pattern, oriented either vertically or horizontally, as it blends from the first to second scene.
Zoom zooms in and out between two shots, juxtaposing multiple zoomed images to create a dynamic blurring for a truly dramatic effect.
