Wiggle is a wonderful tool for adding dynamic movement and distortion to your video image by using it to add a rippling motion to the vertical or horizontal axis.
You can also use Wiggle to move the image side to side or up and down without that ripple. To do so, drop Wiggle’s Rate to 0, so it can’t bend, and then dial up Drift, which effectively controls the speed of movement. The image moves from side to side without any visible wiggle.
You can set the Edges field to “Transparent,” which means that the emptied portion of the picture is transparent so that another image can shine through.
Set Edges to “Replicate.” This copies the edge of the image over the emptied space.
(Note that if the right edge has a boundary of some sort, the edge gets replicated instead, so use the Crop control to clean it up.)
For a rubbery effect, set the edge to “Stretch.” This distorts the image in the direction of the movement, yet keeps the sides still anchored. It’s as if the picture were painted on latex.
Now you’ve got the image bouncing between the two sides. Use the Strength control to set the range of motion. Use the Drift control to set the speed.
Switch the orientation to horizontal and the image stretches up and down. (Yes, that’s counterintuitive, but the Wiggle itself is now oriented on the horizontal axis.)
You can also use the three Edge options to set the boundary behavior.
And then if you really feel like getting seasick, dial the Rate up ever so slightly for a rolling wave motion.
