The enhanced NewBlue Cartoonr Plus, found in Paint Effects, is used to give your footage a hand-drawn look.
But hand-drawn animation is just the beginning. Let's
explore the broad range of NewBlue Cartoonr Plus' artistic
styles that go far beyond the classic cartoon look. We'll
start with this "before" image of ventriloquist Kevin
Johnson and his pals Clyde and Mathilda.

Now we'll apply the "Light Cartoon" preset, and turn Layers and Line Width all the way up. This results in subtle air brushed colors with bold black borders as seen in this image.

We can also start with the "Soft" preset and then turn Sharpen all the way up.

Or, we can take the "Electric Night" preset and turn Color all the way down, Mix all the way up, and move Brightness into the middle range. This converts the movie into a high contrast, blank ink style illustration as seen here.

Starting with the "Dense Texture" preset, turn Lines Mix all the way down to remove the lines. Then, turn up the Sharpen parameter gently to a subtle value to give the colors a stronger edge. Now we have a nice watercolor look.

Apply the "Rich Colors" preset, drop the Color control to -75 to remove almost all the color, and turn down Blend to about 54 which brings the original picture back in. Change the Clean Up setting to remove some extraneous lines caused by the trees in the background. You now have the look of a painting in subdued color tones.

Finally, start with the "Hard" preset, change Clean Up to 100, shading to 90, and it now looks like a crayon drawing.

These are just some examples of the broad range of appealing looks you can create with NewBlue Cartoonr Plus. Start with the presets and experiment until you find the look that's right for your story. |
