Preserving Skin Tones with ColorFast

Is your footage not delivering the mood you’re looking for? Does it have poor color balance? As you know, a little color correcting and color grading can make all the difference. However, it’s not always easy to achieve under increasingly tight deadlines. That is why we’ve created a tool that helps you accomplish this – fast!

ColorFast is a plugin that brings gorgeous color correcting and color grading to every shot. Accomplish your primary and secondary color correction in one simplified workflow to adjust your white balance, brightness, saturation, exposure, and film gamma. More importantly, we've now made it easier than ever to maintain skin tones during secondary color correction with our Skin Preservation Mask.

Let me show you how it works...

First we give a color wash to the image without changing the presenter's skin tones. The next step is to enable the skin mask, and that throws the non-skin colors into negative to make it easier to identify the skin zones.

We then change the sensitivity, so her hair is included. After, we reduce the softness of the mask a touch as well. Finally, we enable skin preservation, turn off the mask and apply color correction.

When we turn the ColorFast on and off, we can see that it successfully changed the background and foreground of the image without affecting the skin tones. These effects are pretty incredible making the Skin Preservation feature worth its weight in gold.

ColorFast is one of those tools that you need in your toolbox. If you’re looking for that distinctive look, the presets loaded into ColorFast can create your intended vision quickly and efficiently.

And we know that at times you work across multiple editing platforms so we made it compatible with all major NLE’s, including Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Apple Final Cut Pro, Grass Valley Edius, and Sony Vegas Pro.

ColorFast is just one of the many cool features in the Filters 3 Ultimate collection. Check your account now to see how many credits you have towards the Filters 3 Ultimate collection.
