NewBlue GPU-Accelerated Plugins Now Compatible With Grass Valley EDIUS

April 02, 2012 by Joshua Fechter

LA JOLLA, CA, April 03, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Video effects innovator and technology developer NewBlue, Inc., today announced its NewBlueFX GPU (graphics processing unit) effects collections are now available for EDIUS 6, the professional non-linear editing (NLE) software from Grass Valley.

Among the key features of GPU-accelerated plugins are faster render times, real-time playback, and improved central processing unit (CPU) performance. NewBlue said its developers performed speed tests that cited average render speeds up to 6X faster (with some render times as high as 60X faster) than regular NewBlue plugins.

The NewBlue GPU-plugins can be used inside of the EDIUS NLE as well as within the NewBlue Titler Pro plugin, which is also supported in EDIUS 6.

"For professional editors, timing is everything. It's hard to pace the story if the playback isn't smooth. With that in mind, we've always worked hard to create effects that are not only beautiful but optimized. Now with the powerful GPUs under the hood of today's computers, it's a whole new ball game. We can dramatically improve performance and unconstrain creative minds to go so much farther" said Todor Fay, co-founder and CEO of NewBlue, Inc.
