Titler Pro Menu Options

File Menu
 

The File menu lets you save, open, import, export, and save various preset types. Let’s take a look at what each option allows.
New: Selecting this option will start a new title. If the current title has not been saved, a warning will be given allowing you to save the title or discard all current changes.
Open…: This option will allow you to open a previously saved title project file. If you have a specific title layout you wish to use repeatedly, you can save the title and then open it when starting a new title.
Add current title to template list: This option will add the current title to the template list in the QuickEdit screen. If you have started to make a title and have now decided it should be a template in QuickEdit, this option will add it to the template list.
Recent Projects: This option will list the titles you have recently saved allowing you to quickly access and open them again.

Importing

Import Image…: This option will allow you to import any support image file into a new shape or paragraph. Supported formats are PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, TGA, and DDS.
Import Video…: This option will allow you to import any supported video file into a new shape or paragraph. Supported formats are MP4, MPG, MOV, and AVI.
Import Vector…: This option will allow you to import an EPS file that contains vector information into a new shape. Please note that if the EPS image does not contain vector information, it will not import and any non-vector information will be ignored.

Exporting

Export Image to file…: This option will export the current preview screen to a PNG file. The file will maintain the proper transparency so you can then drop that file into any video editor to use as a still title. This will allow a title to be created that can then be used in non-supported video editors.
Export Image to clipboard…: This option will copy the current preview screen to the clipboard. You can then paste this title into any other application – such as a photo editor – that accepts images.
Export Movie File…: This option will export the entire moving title as a PNG-Sequence MOV file. The file will maintain the proper transparency so you can then drop that file into any video editor as a video file. This will allow a title to be created that can then be used in non-supported video editors.

Saving a Project File

Save: This option will save the current project to a file on your hard drive. When using Titler Pro in a video editor, this option is not required as you simply need to close Titler Pro to return to your video editor. However, if you wish to save this title to a file, you can do that as well. If the title has not previously been saved, it will ask for the file name to be used. Once saved, you can open the title in other Titler Pro instance by using the Open command described above.
Save As…: This option will save the current project to a file on your hard drive and ask for the file name to be used. Once saved, you can open the title in other Titler Pro instance by using the Open command described above.

Saving Presets

Where will my presets be saved? The files are actually saved on your hard drive under the appropriate presets folder. These files can be copied to other machines to share your presets with other users of Titler Pro. Each type of preset has a separate folder and all folders can be found here: {My Documents}\NewBlueFX\Titler\Presets\
Save style preset…: After creating a specific look for your text, this look can be saved as a Style. Choose this option to save the preset. Once saved in the “My Styles” folder, exit and reopen Titler Pro and the preset will now be available in the Library tab in the Styles section under My Styles.
Save paragraph template…: Saving the Paragraph template will save all aspects of the paragraph including transitions and effects. Once saved in the “My Paragraph Templates” folder, exit and reopen Titler and the template will now be available on the Library tab in the Paragraph Templates section under My Paragraph Templates.
Save project template…: Saving a Project template will save all aspects of the project. Once saved in the”My Project Templates” folder, exit and reopen Titler and the template will now be available on the Library tab in the Project Templates section under My Project Templates. Selecting a Project template will replace everything in the project with the saved template. If you have created a specific look, like a lower third, that you will be using over and over again, you can save it as a Project template. Then add a new title to the project, choose this Project template, and simply adjust the text for the new title.
Save shape preset…: After creating a specific look for your shape, this look can be saved as a preset. Choose this option to save the preset. Once saved in the “My Shapes” folder, exit and reopen Titler and the preset will now be available on the Library tab in the Shapes section under My Shapes.
Save effect preset…: After creating a specific look for your effect on the Effects screen on the Attributes tab, this look can be saved as a preset. Choose this option to save the preset. Once saved in the “My Effects” folder, exit and reopen Titler and the preset will now be available on the Library tab in the Effects section under My Effects.
Save transition preset…: After creating a specific look for your effect on the Transitions screen on the Attributes tab, this look can be saved as a preset. Choose this option to save the preset. Once saved in the “My Transitions” folder, exit and reopen Titler and the preset will now be available on the Library tab in the Transitions section under My Transitions.
Save lighting preset…: After creating a specific lighting look, this look can be saved as a preset. Choose this option to save the preset. Once saved in the “My Lighting” folder, exit and reopen Titler and the preset will now be available on the Library tab in the Lighting section under My Lighting.

Export/Import Projects

Export package…: This option will export the entire Titler Pro project to a zip file so you can share your titles with other users. This file will contain all textures and fonts required by this title in addition to the basic title layout.
Import package…: This option will import the zip file created by Export package. When the zip file is received, simply import the package and all required fonts and textures will also be added as required.

Edit Menu
 

The edit menu will allow undoing and redoing changes as well as the standard cut, copy, and paste operations.
Undo: Undo the last operation performed.
Redo: Redo the last operation that was undone using Undo.
Cut: Cut the currently selected item. This will put it on the clipboard and remove it from the project.
Copy: Copy the currently selected item. This will put it on the clipboard and leave it in the project.
Paste: This will take the contents of the clipboard and put them in the project.

Settings Menu
 

Go to QuickEdit: This option will allow you to return to the QuickEdit screen. Please see the QuickEdit section for more details.
Always Open to Title Designer: When checked, Titler Pro will open directly to the Titler Pro edit screen. When unchecked, the QuickEdit screen will be displayed first with an option to the proceed to the main Titler Pro edit screen.
Close Title Designer based on context: When checked, upon exiting the title designer you will be returned to either QuickEdit or your video editor depending on whether you are simply creating a title or you are creating a template to be used in QuickEdit.
Close Title Designer back to NLE always: When checked, you will always be returned to your video editor upon exiting the title designer.
Close Title Designer back to QuickEdit always: When checked, you will always be returned to QuickEdit upon exiting the title designer.
High quality preview: This option will allow you to toggle the High Quality Preview option. This will determine whether the highest quality is used when previewing on the video editor’s preview screen. If the video editor is slowing down when previewing titles, try turning off this setting.
Use motion blur when rendering output: This option will allow you to toggle whether or not Motion Blur is used when rendering on your video editor. For still text, this will make no difference. With moving text/images, this will add the proper blur during movement.

Project Settings
Project settings…: This option will open the project settings dialog.

In the Project settings dialog, you can specify the desired project size, the desired frame rate, the pixel aspect ratio, and the title duration – if available to edit in your specific video editor.
The steroscopic output will allow you to create true 3D titles. First, change your stereo mode from “None” to “Side-by-Side”. Then you can control the depth of the look using the slider. Note: In Vegas this is not needed as you can use Vegas’ standard 3D tools.

View Menu

The View menu let’s you control various aspects you can use when viewing the title and interacting with the video editor. First is the ability to change the background color. This is important if you are working with darker or black text as you can change to a white background and still see the text.
Black background: The title will be shown on a black background.
Grey background: The title will be shown on a grey background.
White background: The title will be shown on a white background.
Video background: When possible, the title will be shown on the actual video background if the title instances is in your video editor timeline. This is not always possible but the video will be shown as allowed by the video editor.

Safe Margins off: No safe margins will be shown on the preview screen.
 

Safe Margins: Standard Action Safe and Video Safe margins will be shown on the preview screen.

Safe Margins 4:3 inside 16:9: The 4:3 outline and standard 4:3 safe margins will be shown on the preview screen.
 

Marking Grid: Will display a grid on the preview screen. This can be used to simplify the alignment of various items in the title.
Sync play cursor to host timeline: When possible, Titler Pro will keep the cursor in your video editor and the cursor in Titler Pro at the same location.

Help Menu
 

The Help menu will tell you more information about Titler Pro and also help provide assistance in using Titler Pro.
NewBlue Titler Pro Help: This option will access the online help and open it in a browser window. You can also press F1 to access the help file.
Activate Product…: This option will open the activation screen and allow you to activate Titler Pro so the watermark will not appear. To transfer your license to another computer, this option will also let you deactivate Titler Pro.
Check for Updates: This option will check to see if a new build of Titler Pro has been released and allow downloading that updated build. Once downloaded, please exit Titler and your video editor, install the new build, and then you can start your video editor again to use the updated version.
About NewBlue Titler Pro: This option will open the Info dialog. The info dialog will tell you the current version/build of Titler Pro that you have installed.
